Attention Families and Individuals – Qianfeng Daoism Advocates 100
Years of Healthy Life!

From the moment we are born, we are destined to die, but no
one can be certain how long our lives will be, or when our final day will
be. When will our lives end? Our parents take care of us, and the State
educates us, so that we can pursue our own interests in life that conform to
the social norms of the culture we live within.
This is essentially egotistical development designed around our own
wants and desires. This is justified
because people think that hard work leads to its own rewards.
This model is fine for the development of a career and a family until one reaches middle-age, but it ignores one crucial aspect of existence – namely that of the ‘care of one’s body’. In July 2011, the ‘Daily Economic News’, published a series of articles that stated in just 19 months, China lost 19 high-ranking economic figures. I think this is in fact a regular occurrence that can be easily seen all around us. If we look, we can probably all discover examples of successful business people who have died when reaching middle-age. The cause of this death at such a young age is the product of long-term over-work, and the psychological, emotional and physical pressure this causes. The mind quite literally becomes polluted, as does the body and its inner workings. This is the wrong focus if one wishes to live for a long time.
The Qianfeng Prenatal School of Daoist self-cultivation advocates one hundred years of life with one hundred years of health. This method empowers the body (and mind), and allows the energy to strengthen and flow freely, through the strengthening of essential-nature (jing), and vital force (qi). Even Westerners are now travelling to China to study Daoism because they recognise the efficacy of Chinese health culture, and believe it has a place in their own culture. If Westerners think this, then perhaps it is time that we in China start to take our own health seriously and be shocked by the deaths of people who have only reached middle-age (as 19 deaths of prominent business people at this young age is too many). Yes – it is time to give-up the ego, but how should we proceed?
Traditional Chinese Daoist health culture holds the key. In the past, the various Daoist schools have been mystified and full of difficult superstitions that made their teachings difficult to penetrate and understand. This is why my great grandfather – Zhao Bichen (1860-1942) – who studied all these old schools, developed the modern and logical Qianfeng prenatal School. The Qianfeng School is passed on within the Zhao family. Zhao Bichen was the 11th generation lineage inheritor of the Longmen School of Daoism – and he used his extensive learning to clarify Daoist teachings and make them accessible to the masses. Anyone can study Qianfeng Daoism without exception. It is modern, logical, and fully in accordance with medical knowledge. In this way the health of the nation can be strengthened and enhanced. This was the wish of Zhao Bichen, which his descendents humbly uphold in the world today.
