The Profound Law of Good Health in Middle-Age.

As people grow, develop, and mature, the body undergoes many changes through the aging process. Today it is a statistical fact that people aged over 40 are suffering from increased rates of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular disease. In men, blood supply to the brain is often inadequate, and many suffer from insomnia, as well as kidney and prostrate problems. These are just some of the ailments that can affect the body during middle age.
Daoist health building exercises (gong fa) are ideal for people of 40 years old or over, for developing and harmonising yin and yang. As the body naturally ages many people experience a loss of energy, but after performing the gong fa exercises correctly, there is often an immediate increase in positive energy.
There is no doubt that modern China is affluent and that hard-work can earn many material benefits. However, when people are at the prime of their lives (i.e. the ‘yellow gold phase’), and benefit from youthful energy and will-power, they should also be wise and make plans for when they get older instead of just ignoring the long-term health of their bodies. Shouldering many burdens in the end has a negative effect on health if common-sense precautions are not taken. Although generally speaking there is an emphasis upon the positive effects of a good diet and regular exercise, many just focus on filling their tables, but how can good health arise from this one-sided approach? This is merely a superficial understanding of health as it does not penetrate the surface. In reality it is the essential nature (jing) that must be nourished and strengthened in the right manner, and this is related to good and efficient qi energy flow throughout the energy channels of the body. Many people do not understand that an imbalanced outer lifestyle is counter-balanced by the burning up of inner original essential nature (yuan jing), and the original qi energy (yuan qi). This is disastrous for all-round health and its effects must be reversed through following a correct Daoist self-developmental path that involves the practice of specific exercises (gong fa) that are designed by the ancients to replenish the deficiency in inner qi in the body, and in so doing strengthen and develop the essential nature. These gong fa exercises are designed to build strong bones (壮骨 – Zhuang bones) and thereby ensure a robust healthiness of the body (and mind). This process is only effective if the right instruction is received from a qualified teacher, as training in the correct manner builds-up the qi energy and essential nature (jing) that is deficient.
Philosophical Daoism has developed over thousands of years the scientific body of knowledge that develops robust health and the conditions for a long-life. The general name for these numerous exercises is ‘Self-Cultivation Law’ (功法) and their primary purpose is to reverse original qi energy and original essential nature (jing) deficiency. In the past in China this teaching was difficult to find and hard to understand, but today (through the Qianfeng Prenatal School) it is being made available (free of charge) for the entire world to benefit from. For building vigorous health and prolonging life there is no better developmental path. This is the very ancient and valuable Daoist path that attains to the advanced state of Immortality. It is a heritage that should be cherished, practiced and passed on to future generations. When there is correct instruction anyone can benefit from its methods of self-cultivation and repair their health without exception.
My great grandfather – Zhao Bichen (1860-1942) – searched for and acquired this rare Daoist knowledge, and after his own successful self-cultivation he founded the Qianfeng Prenatal School and wrote all his understanding down in his manual entitled 'The Secret Cultivation of Essential Nature and Eternal Life’.
