Zhao Ming Wang - the Family Lineage inheritor of Zhao Bichen and an expert in Daoist neidan exercises.
News from London (UK):
In London England, and California USA, the Qi: Journal of Traditional Eastern Health & Fitness has introduced to the West for the first time, myself - Zhao Ming Wang - and the Chinese Daoist good health and longevity methods and exercises as preserved and taught within the Qianfeng Prenatal School, which is derived from the Dragon Gate School. This is important, as the Qianfeng Prenatal School was founded by my great grandfather Zhao Bichen (1860-1942).
In the Summer-Autumn 2012 Edition of Qi: Journal of Traditional Eastern Health & Fitness, an article was published about my great grandfather Zhao Bichen written by Adrian Chan-Wyles PhD (more about this scholar below). This introduced Zhao Bichen’s Daoist work to a contemporary Western audience through good historical research about his life, translated into English from authentic Chinese language source materials. Published Article: Zhao Bichen (1860-1942) Daoist Immortal (By Adrian Chan-Wyles PhD)
Recently it was my turn to be interviewed for the Winter Edition 2014 of Qi: Journal of Traditional Eastern Health & Fitness. In this published article in the West, I was able to explain the Zhao family history, and how Zhao Bichen trained over many years to attain Immortality through the acquisition of genuine Daoist knowledge and wisdom. I was also able to explain how I inherited the Qianfeng Prenatal School after also training for many years. This interview was carried-out by the Western scholar Adrian Chan-Wyles of London, UK, whose Chinese Buddhist and Daoist name is ‘释大道’ (Shi Da Dao). Shi Da Dao carried-out extensive research for this article and has produced an authoritative and correct account of my views and the teaching of the Qianfeng School. Shi Da Dao’s grand-teacher was Charles Luk (1898-1978) (who trained in Qianfeng Daoism with my great grandfather) and translated Zhao Bichen’s Daoist self-cultivation manual entitled ‘The Secret Cultivation of Essential Nature and Eternal Life’’ into English. This was published under the title ‘Taoist Yoga’. Shi Da Dao is the designated third generation descendent of this Qianfeng Lineage (Translator’s Note: Zhao Bichen, Charles Luk, Richard Hunn and Shi Da Dao). This article can be read here:
Published Article: Interview with Master Zhao Ming Wang (By Adrian Chan-Wyles PhD)
Dr Zhang Qingsong – the President of the Chinese Wisdom Association of the USA has told me that there are two of my great grandfathers books now available in the West, the first being Charles Luk’s 1970 English language Taoist Yoga mentioned above, and the second being Catherine Despeux’s 1979 French translation of ‘Clear Explanations of Hygiene and Physiology’. I am convinced that through these two translations, there has been a significant sharing of Chinese Daoist culture in the West, and that both these authors have contributed greatly to East-West understanding and cross-cultural fertilisation. Now the foundational teachings and methods of the Qianfeng Prenatal School have been explained, and people in the West now have an understanding of qi energy cultivation, the building of good health, and the prolonging of life. This demonstrates that the importance of health and longevity are universal concepts and concerns that are equally valid and important just as much in the West as they are in China. Zhao Bichen was very much interested in the West, and his instructions to teach Qianfeng Daoism to all beings. This includes not just China, but also the entire world. Everyone can have a healthy and long life if they live and train in the appropriate manner.
