Inner and Outer Tranquillity Assures Good Health

Effective self-cultivation that develops the mind and body,
is premised upon the development and free-flowing of the essential vital force
(jing qi). This is because the natural
world and the physical body share the same essence (of shen, jing and qi), and
what flows through one, flows through the other. This is the unity of the divine-sky with the
broad-earth. It is better to keep away
from the hustle and bustle of the world, and instead to exist in beautiful,
peaceful and tranquil settings, as this protects the body and mind, and ensure
the maintenance of inner balance and harmony.
Students of the Qianfeng School are often taken to remote areas to
meditate and breathe. This inner and
outer tranquillity is the essence of the Dao, and the purpose of authentic
Daoist practice.
